DIVERSITY BOOKBAGS
CONTINUE!
We are very excited to continue the project we began in 2002 with the Diversity Bookbags. The bags are intended to strengthen connections among our school population and to build an atmosphere of tolerance and respect for cultural, racial, ability and family structure diversity.
At some point during the year, your child(ren) have the option to bring home a Diversity Bookbag from his/her classroom. Each class has a special bag filled with books, games, recipes and other activities. The contents were specifically chosen to help show the diverse population we have here at Estabrook School. Each grades' bag is different, so you will find new activities to enjoy. Each student will get to bring the bag home on a Thursday and return it the following Tuesday. Please make sure when it is your turn that you return it promptly and that all of the contents are inside.
Please look at the attached content list for the bag that your child will be able to bring home. If you have any questions or comments about any of the activities, or wish to see the bag before it goes home, please contact your child's teacher. We understand there are many activities, so please choose what is right for your family.
The Diversity Bookbag Project is an exciting project in which many of Lexington's elementary schools particpate. The project was funded by the LEF with continued support from the schools' PTAs and Anti-Bias Committees.
We hope you will take the time to explore the bag with your family and do some of the activities.
Enjoy!
