getting to know…

… morning arrival and afternoon pickup

Children may arrive at school any time after 8 AM. At this time, aides are available to supervise them. Please do not drop off your children any earlier.

Most mornings, children gather on the K-3 playground, which is to the right and south of the school. On wet and very cold days, children meet in the front lobby instead. In either case, at 8:30 the aides send the students to their classrooms to start the day.

… traffic and parking

To drop off your children, drive all the way to the drop-off areas. PARK IN THE LOTS AND WALK YOUR CHILD TO THE SIDEWALK.

To pick up your children, park in the parking areas. PARK IN THE LOTS AND WALK TO THE PORCH. Escort your child back to the car.

DO NOT:

  • Stop on the hill or traffic circle.
  • Drop off a child in the parking lane or drive.
  • Make a U-turn anywhere in the drive.
  • Drive into the upper circle, which is for buses.

Kindergarten parents should wait on the front patio to meet their children.

A crossing guard is on duty at the Grove Street entrance before and after school.

… bus schedules

The bus schedules for all Lexington schools are printed in the Lexington Minuteman newspaper the Thursday before school opens. Your child will ride on either the first bus or the second bus for both trips, both to and from school. For further information, call the school office at 861-2520.

… food services

The school offers a full hot lunch for $1.50 and milk alone for $.40 a carton. Parents can also purchase lunch tickets from the school office. The lunch program begins on Friday, September 10.

… snacks

The school offers milk/juice to kindergartners for snacktime. Parents prepay for the half-year program. Each kindergartner receives an order form, and additional forms are available at the school office.

All other students can bring a midmorning snack to school each day. You may want to consider sending something to tide your child over until he or she has lunch.

… Thursday dismissal

Students are released early each Thursday at 12:15. Lunch is not provided on Thursdays.

… Lextended Day at Estabrook

The after-school program at Estabrook will begin on Wednesday, September 8, for grades 1-5 and on Friday, September 10, for kindergarten. For further information call Lextended Day Director Irene Denty at 862-8318.

…clothing/lost and found

Dress your children in all-purpose clothing that suits the classroom, gym, art class, and playground. Label all garments so we can reunite lost clothing with owners!

If you’ve lost items of clothing, bags, etc., look outside the Music Room near the third/fourth-grade wing. Every two months, we will donate unclaimed items to charity. (Small/valuable items such as keys, jewelry, money will be held in the office.)
